Muc-Off Winter Cleaning Prep!

Its that time of the year when some of us start to put the bikes away for the winter and hide them away from the dreaded gritter trucks!. 

We've put together a small how to guide to deep clean your bike ready for winter storage using some of our favourite Muc-Off Products. 

Some Essentials to have is a good brush set & a micro fibre cloths.

Step One - Pre-Wash 

Rinse your bike down with cold water either with hose or if you don't have access to a hose grab a trusty bucket and sponge. Once your pride and joy is all  wet, time to apply the Muc-Off Motorcycle Cleaner. Cover your bike in the cleaner and let it sit for 3-5 minutes, Agitate any stubborn areas with a brush or sponge. Then rinse of thoroughly with fresh water.

Step Two - The Chain 

If you have the luxury of a centre stand or paddock stand pop your bike up and spray your chain with the Muc-Off Chain Cleaner whilst rotating the wheel ( Do not do this with your engine running, ask James and he'll show what happens when you do ). Grab your chain cleaning brush and thoroughly scrub your chain. Once you are happy you've taken enough dirt off your chain rinse any excess chain cleaner off lightly with water ( don't go full jet wash you run the risk of damaging your O-Rings ) 

Time for the lube! which every style of lube you prefer, dry or wax, we prefer the all weather lube from Muc-Off - shake the can well and then apply to the inside of the chain whilst rotating the wheel. 

Step Three - Protect 

By now your bike will be starting to gleam, rinse your bike down again will cool fresh water. Dry off with a cloth. Now were ready to add a layer of protectant to our bike to preserve the bike'd engine, bodywork, wheels & plastics. 

First apply a coating of the Muc-Off Motorcycle Protectant to your bike, wipe of any residue.

Next add a thin layer of the HCB-1 to any surface of your bike you want to protect - for the best results let it cure for 24 hours.

Step 4 - Polish 

Time for the finishing touches, lets get your bike sparkling! lets apply a layer of silicon shine to the bike, Gently buff the surface with a clean cloth until you dry sparkling shine!
