Six thousand miles, a motorcycle and plenty of stories to bring home. We’re proud to be sponsoring Laura Mills, better known as @motowaifu, and her YouTube series following her solo journey from the UK to Nordkapp, Norway, beyond the Arctic Circle.
Laura recently came down to Veloce Club and made a video of her visit. Before we get into the long-distance riding, here’s a look around somewhere a little closer to home.
Meet Laura aka @motowaifu
Laura has spent the past decade documenting her adventures on two wheels, covering more than 100,000 miles across Europe. Her travels have taken her through the Balkans and Baltics, over the Pyrenees, Alps and Dolomites, and all the way to Türkiye.
Along the way, she’s developed an approach to motorcycle travel that we can get behind: the best bike for travelling is the one you already own.
It’s an encouraging thought if you’ve ever looked at a route on a map, then looked at your motorcycle and wondered whether it was up to the job. Laura’s aim is to get more people out exploring on the bikes they have.
Her videos bring together travel, humour and her love of anime and gaming, with room for the awkward moments and occasional chaos that come with going a long way on two wheels.
Taking the long way north
For her Arctic adventure, Laura rode a Suzuki DR-Z4S solo across Europe to Nordkapp. The journey covered around 6,000 miles, with 32 days spent travelling through Europe and Scandinavia.
That’s a lot of riding, and plenty to turn into a YouTube series. The episodes let you follow the journey as it unfolded, from the roads and places along the route to the practical realities of travelling solo.
There’s a personal change behind the adventure, too. After two years working professionally as a video editor, Laura was made redundant and decided to commit to creating her own content full-time. This trip became part of that next chapter.

Laura’s enthusiasm for getting out and riding is something we want to support.
Motorcycle travel can begin with a weekend away or a route that takes you thousands of miles from home. Seeing someone share their experiences makes those possibilities easier to picture, especially when they leave the difficult and funny bits in.
Our sponsorship supports Laura’s Arctic Circle YouTube series and the work involved in bringing those stories to her audience. We’re pleased to play a part, and it was a pleasure to welcome her down to VC.
