Minehead loop 195mile GPX Route
The Veloce Club Minehead Loop is a sweeping 195-mile motorcycle ride beginning and ending in Minehead, taking in some of the finest roads across Exmoor, North Devon and the fringes of Dartmoor.
Leaving Minehead, the route immediately climbs into Exmoor National Park, where open moorland, fast A-roads and flowing B-roads set the tone. Expect wide views across rolling hills, technical bends and long sight lines that make this opening section both engaging and rhythmical.
Dropping down out of Exmoor, the road begins to track west toward the North Devon coastline. The landscape softens into estuary views and sweeping rural lanes as you approach Instow. This is the first planned stop: coffee and cake at John's of Instow.
Positioned near the water, it’s an ideal early regroup point after the Exmoor stretch — a chance to refuel, warm up and enjoy views across the Torridge estuary before heading inland again.
From Instow, the route turns south and begins carving through classic Devon countryside. The roads here alternate between open A-roads and tighter, hedge-lined sections, demanding focus and smooth throttle control.
The ride builds toward Tavistock, a historic market town sitting on the western edge of Dartmoor. This marks the lunch stop. Riders can refuel themselves in town and top up the tanks at the local Morrisons petrol station — a practical midway reset before the afternoon leg.
Leaving Tavistock, the route brushes the edges of Dartmoor’s dramatic landscape. Expect exposed stretches, sweeping upland roads and a sense of remoteness that contrasts beautifully with the earlier coastal miles. The terrain undulates steadily, offering a mix of fast, open sections and more technical curves as the ride arcs back north-east.
The final planned pause comes at Union Road Moto Velo, an afternoon coffee stop that blends motorcycle culture with quality refreshments — a fitting environment for riders to regroup and reflect on the day so far.
From there, the route pushes back toward Exmoor, retracing elevated moorland roads before descending once more into Minehead to complete the loop. At around six hours of riding time, this is a full-value day in the saddle: fast moorland sweepers, coastal scenery, tight Devon lanes and well-spaced social stops that make it as much about the experience as the miles.
