🎩 Volunteers Needed: Help Make The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2026 Happen

The world-famous Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride returns on Sunday 17th May, and once again Veloce Club will be proud to host the Hitchin ride.

This iconic global event brings together thousands of riders, all united in style and purpose to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research. But behind every successful DGR is a dedicated team of volunteers — and we can’t do it without you.

Without volunteers, the DGR simply cannot happen.

📍 The Ride

As in previous years, the route will run from Veloce Club to Shuttleworth and back, following the same proven format that has worked so well over the last few years.

🔔 Full event details to follow — riders must still register via the official Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride website.

🦺 Volunteer Roles We Need Filled

We are calling out for volunteers to help ensure the ride runs safely, smoothly, and in true DGR spirit. There are three key ways to get involved:

🛣️ Road Marshals

Road Marshals are the backbone of the ride. You'll need to be a confident rider and able to make progress through a large group of riders safely.

What you’ll do:

  • Mark junctions and direct riders along the route
  • Once the final rider (identified by hi-viz) has passed, you’ll rejoin the group
  • Ride forward to the next junction as directed by the Ride Leader

Requirements:

  • Must attend at least TWO test ride-outs
  • Confident rider with good awareness
  • You’ll be clearly identified by wearing a white hi-viz

🏍️ Road Runners

Road Runners support the flow of the ride from within the group.

What you’ll do:

  • Ride within the group, spaced roughly every 10–15 riders
  • Help guide riders through junctions if a Marshal isn’t yet in position
  • Ensure the group stays together and on route

Requirements:

  • Must attend at least TWO test ride-outs
  • Good route knowledge and calm riding style
  • Identified by wearing an arm band

🙌 General Volunteers (On the Day & Beyond)

We also need help off the bike to keep everything running smoothly.

Support roles include:

  • Registration
  • Parking coordination
  • General event support

We’d also love to hear from anyone with skills in:

  • Marketing
  • Events
  • Fundraising
  • Community engagement

Our aim is to make DGR 2026 the best yet, and your experience could help take it to the next level.

đź’™ Be Part of Something Bigger

Volunteering for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is about more than helping on the day — it’s about supporting a global cause, being part of the Veloce Club community, and ensuring hundreds of riders can enjoy a safe, unforgettable experience.

If you’ve ever ridden DGR and wondered how it all comes together — this is your chance to be part of it.

Hi Rich, I’m planning to be part of this ride this year. Happy to meet at Veloce club and happy to volunteer in any capacity. I don’t own a triumph- yet but hope my RT will be acceptable.
